Teaching

My teaching interests include city design and regeneration, urban policy and political economy, cultural planning and policy, arts management and education, city theory and urban planning. I am also interested in comparative urban studies particularly within Europe, North America and developing cities.

In the UK I teach modules on BA and MA Arts & Heritage, MA City Regeneration, MA Urban Cultures, MA International Event Management (including Olympic Cities). At Maastricht I will be undertaking tutorials, lectures and seminars around the theme of creative cities, as well as city growth/shrinking cities, arts & heritage, events & festivals, cultural/creative tourism, sustainable urban development - including accessible transport, housing/mixed-use, urban design & planning, and quality of life.

I supervise several PhD candidates on topics including Mega-Events, Community Planning through GIS-Participation, Ethnic Quarters, Mixed-Use Design & Development, and Culture & Regeneration.

In Maastricht I co-convene with Dr Philip Lawton Module 3 on the MA Arts & Heritage on the theme of 'Creative Cities' and Culture-led Regeneration. Programme and downloads of articles and reading material are available on this staff page (see CV, Download sections).
